I'm a children's book editor living in Brooklyn. I post about books, publishing, life, travel, food, and other random stuff. I was widowed in 2016, and may post about my grief and recovery on occasion as well.

drowning
I just have to say that I've been drowning at work. Weeks pass before I realize it, and I don't accomplish what I've set out to do. So if you've emailed me and haven't received a response, please forgive me. If you really need to get a hold of me, call me--I'm still answering my phone. But I've been extremely tardy at responding to emails, so forgive me, and thank you for your patience. I'll respond eventually, I promise.

It's a horrible question to ask, perhaps, since you don't have time to answer, but I want the answer that comes while you're actually drowning, not after the fact. I'm not unsympathetic, really! But can you pound out your To Do list, and a guess as to why things aren't getting checked off as quickly as you'd like and expect?
No one's allowed to call it whining--I'm *asking*.
By the way, welcome on board! Sure wish I knew how I got here.
I know how you feel. Between already being behind before Christmas, to taking a longer-than-anticipated Christmas break, to getting sick after Christmas and also dealing with two shows in the last two months, I've been ridiculously behind, too.
I have a question for you that I'm going to email later. If I remember. First, I have to get myself up and running after an exhausting weekend. Ug.
It sounds like you need to carve out a quiet break with candles, soft music, deep breaths, long exhales, a long soaking hot bath with lavender oils.
Take care of yourself, Alvina. YOu can only do so much in a day and you need your rest, strength and energy.... so you can come pick blueberries this summer in Oregon!!
Sending good thoughts and energy your way,
Gretchen
